Marquez Wants Third Fight

When asked what he simply desires, Mexican expert counter-puncher Juan Manuel Marquez reiterates his craving to face the World’s pound-for-pound king Filipino Manny Pacquiao for the third time.
Marquez (50-5-1 win-loss-draw with 37 knockouts) said he is really motivated after his bout against Juan Diaz (35-3 win-loss with 17 knockouts). Boxing Writers Association of America voted the bout as “2009 Fight of the Year.”

“It was very significant and motivating,” said Marquez in fightnews.com, who scored a technical knockout in ninth round against Diaz last year. “Keep in mind that it takes two to tango. The rematch will be equal if not better than the first fight.”

After his victory over Diaz, the 36-year-old Marquez expressed his desire to have a third fight against Pacquiao (51-3-2 win-loss-draw with 38 knockouts). Marquez’s first bout ended to a draw and he lost in the second fight.

“I want Manny Pacquiao,” he said. “I want that third fight with him before my career ends. That is what my heart desires.”
Marquez admitted he had a hard time fighting American Floyd Mayweather

“We knew going into the Mayweather fight that it was going to be very difficult,” he said. “What made it difficult was the excess weight Mayweather had—an extra 15 pounds. We gave it our all the entire time and just came up short.”

He said he is ready to defend his titles with the same amount of pride despite his age.
“I don’t know how much longer I will fight, that’s up to God to decide.”

But for now, Pacquiao’s third bout against Marquez is unlikely since the Filipino ring icon is presently contemplating between An-tonio Margarito or a rematch against Miguel Cotto on November 13 after negotiations with Floyd Mayweather fizzled.
